Millions in Efficiency Credits PDF Print E-mail
Tri-State Generation and Transmission has offered its Energy Efficiency Credits Program for several years to electric co-ops that want to make their territories more energy efficient. Participation in the EEC program hit a record level in 2008, with a total in excess of $1.6 million paid to co-op members who purchased more efficient appliances, heating and cooling equipment and motors.

To further strengthen its commitment to support smart energy use, Tri-State also is partnering in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy’s popular Energy Star labeling program. As a partner utility in the initiative, Tri-State has pledged to coordinate and administer energy efficiency and energy education programs that promote Energy Star.

“Tri-State’s partnership with Energy Star will help electric cooperative consumers save money and support the environment through energy efficient products and practices,” said Keith Emerson, coordinator of the association’s energy management program. “Rural electric co-op consumers will benefit from up-front rebates for their energy efficient purchases and then save money on their energy bills for years to come.”
Tri-State is the power supplier for 18 of the 22 electric cooperatives in Colorado and also provides electricity to another 26 electric co-ops in Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming.
