Buena Vista Electric Co-op Encourages Members to Build Energy Star Homes PDF Print E-mail

Sangre De Cristo Electric Association is pleased to have issued a $300 rebate check to Chris and Janice Martin for building their own personal home to the high Energy Star standards. Chris, president of Headwaters Energy & Finance, not only talks the talk but walks the walk. Headwaters Energy is an energy consulting company that focuses on wind and solar renewable energy systems. They also help home owners and builders build to the Energy Star standards.

Southwestern Colorado Electric Co-op Provides Power to EPA Leadership Winner PDF Print E-mail
Alpine Bank Durango has been named to the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2010 Green Power Leadership Club.

This elite group made up of the EPA’s Green Power Partners has demonstrated a high level of environmental leadership and purchased Green Power through its local utility — in this case La Plata Electric Association, an electric cooperative.

Use Co-op’s Energy Monitors to Become More Energy Efficient PDF Print E-mail
Southeast Colorado Power Association, headquartered in LaJunta, is putting into place some innovative programs designed to help its members identify where they are losing energy and to assist them in saving energy costs.

One program, the Kill-A-Watt energy detector loan program, allows SECPA members to borrow one of the co-op’s Kill-A-Watt energy detectors for 14 days. These detectors are designed calculate how much electricity individual appliances are consuming. Members can plug an appliance into the unit and the monitor will determine how many kilowatt-hours of electricity are being used
